What Is Cryoskin And How Does It Work?
The Science Behind the Treatment
The Cryoskin machine is capable of causing thermal shock due to its ability to alternate rapidly between periods of skin warming and cooling. First the heat is applied for 2 minutes on the treatment area. Heating allows for the fat cells to rise to the surface which are then quickly targeted during the 12 minute cold treatment of each area.
What To Expect:
Cryoskin treatments feel pretty much exactly like you’d expect. It’s a sensation of localized cold, not unlike rolling a very cold soda can across your skin. A special gel is used to protect the surface of your skin from the low temperatures. If the sensation feels too cold for a moment, your technician will apply the machine to a different area until you’re ready to resume back on the first area. Many people find Cryoskin to be a relaxing, spa-like experience.
How Long Does It Take See Results?
Every body is different, and everyone reacts differently to cryotherapy. That being said, many — if not most — people will be able to visually see results after their first session. As with anything, the more sessions you have, the better your results will be. Your results from each session will peak around 2-3 weeks after your actual appointment, as this is when your body has finished expelling the dead fat cells from the cryotherapy. As far as lasting results, that’s up to your diet, lifestyle, and individual body response to Cryoskin.
Is It Safe?
The treatments are incredibly safe and non-invasive and there is no down-time after the treatment. Cryoskin heating and cooling effect has been found to increase oxygen supply, aiding collagen production. Cryoskin uses the “Peltier effect” which gives precise temperature control, creating the perfect conditions to destroy fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue.
Are There Any Side Affects?
Other than the feeling of cold, there are very few minor side effects with Cryoskin. There may be some mild redness on the skin for an hour or two after your appointment. Also, since part of the way your body expels dead fat cells is through urine, you may urinate slightly more, and the color may be a little darker, in the days following your treatment.
Am I A Good Candidate?
In general, most people will be able to benefit from Cryoskin. However, if you have severe diabetes, Raynaud’s Syndrome, circulation issues, cancer, or are pregnant, you should not undergo any form of cryotherapy.
And as always, you’ll see the best results when you follow through with multiple treatments, in conjunction with a sensible approach to diet and exercise.
